Ashwinearl has written a pretty good tutorial on how to setup your brake lever position for the best performance.

Good tips here, but there is one VERY IMPORTANT factor in brake lever set up that was left out. Modulation. The ability to add or subtract braking force after the pads have made contact with the disc/ rim. This is a complex equation of all the things ashwinearl talks about, plus the choice of equipment is critical here as well. I would be a little concerned if my lever was as close to the bar (as ashwinearl shows it)at the contact point with little to no room for modulation. But again, it is a personal choice, and what I like isn’t going to be right for everyone.

Absolutely right. I forgot to add the part about making sure that the levers never actually reach the bars!!.
    I’ll edit it right now

Come on man… who’s your editor over there anyway?
