Riding the Raleigh M80

June 24th, 2005 by Tim Grahl

I’m still reviewing the Raleigh M80 and everytime I ride it I’m surprised at how well it performs. I still say the only real downside to this bike is the weight. It’s heavy.

Anyway, riding it yesterday I noticed at how well it shifts. Even while cranking up a hill it shifts smoothly. I haven’t had any chain suck happen yet either.

Also, the forks work better then expected. I heard nothing but bad things about the Manitou SIX forks but I think they work pretty well for the pricepoint of the bike. Or I just expected them to be really bad and they aren’t. Either way I’m pleasently surprised.

Oh yeah… I gotta switch out the grips to. They are to thin or something. I feel like I am hanging on to concrete while going down technical parts of the trail.

That bike is like a Hummer. It’s heavy but its also very well built! You can tackle just about anything….
