Clean and Lube

May 18th, 2005 by Tim Grahl

Since we are all about saving money here, the easiest way to get the best bang for your buck is to keep the stuff you already have in good shape. One of the best things you can do for your bike is give her a good hosing and wipe down after every ride and then every couple weeks give her a good cleaning. JensonUSA has both the Pedro’s Mini Pit Kit for $25 and the Pedro’s Super Pit Kit for $40 to help you keep your ride clean and well lubed.

Dawn dishwashing liquid, two bucks. Brushes from dollar store, one dollar. Lemon furniture polish, also from dollar sore. Total: four bucks. Spemd the rest on beer, or sushi.

let dirt dry, water kills a bike.
after dirt is dry, use a soft paitnbrush to clean it.

1 small bottle of dry lube lasts a year.

no water seeping into pivots and no wet seat
