Does cycling cause hemorrhoids?
May 16th, 2005 by MikeIll-fitting saddles can cause a host of butt pains, but hemorrhoids–swollen, painful blood vessels in and around the anus–aren?t one of them. In fact, cycling can help prevent them by improving your blood circulation and muscle tone.
If you?re worried about hemorrhoids, check your diet. The culprit may be a diet filled with too many white breads, refined foods and too few fruits, veggies and water. You end up with rock-hard stools that take force to pass, leading to bulking and sore veins. Fill up on whole-grain cereals, leafy greens, and drink 6 to 8 glasses of water and fruit juice every day. And ride on.
