Trail Traffic

Trail traffic is always a source of contention between hikers, mountain bikers and horse riders. LATimes.com has a good article on research done and who actually causes the most damage:

The path through Sullivan Canyon resembled a fossil bed of hoof divots, knobby boot prints and gracefully curving bicycle tracks. People come for fun but often find conflict.

    Thanks for sharing that Tim. That was actually in my neck of the woods.
    I’ve always carried a small Kona Cow Bell on my bike that makes enough noise to allow hikers to hear and see me.
    But the horses freak out when the hear the jingling of the bell.

    Something good about trail traffic… I met two guys going the opposite direction on the trail yesterday at a tree that had fallen and was pretty much impassible. So we all pitched in and cleared the tree off the trail. Our good deed for the day.
