An Article About Shimano That Doesn’t Piss Me Off

March 21st, 2005 by Tim Grahl

Singletrack Magazine got a chance to see some Shimano parts that are slated to come out the end of this year and beginning of 2006. They have writeups on a rear derailleur, some levers and cranks. Here is my favorite quote:

Shimano has realised that riders may still want Shimano shifting, even if they don’t use their brakes…

Haha, go figure. Someone may actually consider NOT using all Shimano parts? Oh the travesty! Looks like Shimano may actually be starting to get off their high horse of proprietary parts. Maybe one day they will go all the way with it.

Yeah, well don’t hold your breath! There are some other consolations being made to the specmeisters at big bike companies. Witness the availability of XT level rapidfire shifter pods for ‘05, and the “improvements” made to LX Flapper shifters vs. the XT/XTR ones. Believe me, Shimano won’t pull out any big ads to let us “blue collar” dudes in on any of this!
