Back in my day, all we had was bikes

March 16th, 2005 by Tim Grahl

So bikes have been around for 200 years? According to the Bicycle Museum of America they have been. Starting with the Draissine in 1816, that looks more like a plow then a bike, and coming all the way to the present. Lots of pictures and history.

the bike will slowing become less and less significant as part of a child’s development

no longer can a bicycle equal the freedom it was for me and my friends

the streets are too heavily trafficked
    and
the world is too hung up on danger….

when I was a kid riding my bike on the C&O canal everyone was affraid of what would happen to me
now I fear the world is that scary place that people feared

is the world more dangerous or does the media just make it appear that way?
