Saturday Morning Mountain Biking

March 14th, 2005 by Mike

Tim and I hit the trail Saturday morning at 8am, despite the snow falling in our faces, to do a little early morning mountain biking. We were the only souls in the parking lot (I wonder if that was a sign?). Being the cold wuss that I am I put on almost everything I owned that could keep me warm. I had on my Craft Pro long sleeve base layer shirt and my Louis Garneau base shorts and tights I use for skiing on top of that. Then I topped it all off with a long sleeve shirt and a pair of wind pants. I looked pretty cool.

Riding in the snow was actually pretty fun. Although we made the mistake of thinking the trails would be frozen and not very muddy. The crappy part of the trip was my freaking pedals. I am riding on the Shimano M505 clipless pedals and they collect everything they touch. I lost count of how many times I had to find a tree so I could get clipped in. I was constantly kicking the pedals to knock out all they had collected. The Raleigh M80 performed great again. Nothing to complain about other than the front fork not rebounding like it should and traction wasn’t the greatest, although that was more the trail than anything. Good ride, good times.
