I Suck
March 4th, 2005 by Tim GrahlThe Wreck will not be racing in this Sunday’s mountain cross race. I wasn’t in that great of shape when I raced in the last one two weeks ago, so I had all these grand plans to ride everyday and try to make a better showing at the next one. Everything has worked against me. I got a ride in last Monday, then Tuesday morning I awoke with the sickness, then I traveled for four days over the weekend, then I have been working overtime all week. Yesterday was my first day in the saddle in almost ten days and it wasn’t a pretty site.
I’m still feeling the sickness as well. My digestive track is all screwed up. I can only eat about twice a day and only in small portions. I’ve lost eight pounds since last Tuesday. What little food I do eat doesn’t usually come out of my system in the form of a solid.
Anyway, I know these are all excuses and I keep thinking maybe I should just suck it up and ride. You know, like Tyler Hamilton in the Tour de France a couple years ago when he finished it with a broken collar bone. But then I remember it’s just about having good times for me and the idea of barfing on the side of trail halfway through doesn’t sound like much fun.
Hopefully I’ll get over this pretty soon, then the time will change and I’ll be in the saddle at least five days a week. Ok, that’s enough griping for now. I’ll still get some pictures of everyone else racing and have those up.
