Fun Rides
February 19th, 2005 by MikeJeff and Guitar Ted commented on one of Tim’s blogs not too long ago about how to go about the right way to get the community involved in biking. I understand what they are saying about how race attendance comes after people make biking a way of life. Well in New England the EFTA (The Eastern Fat Tire Association) and NEMBA (The New England Mountain Bike Association) have Fun Rides that are non-competitive rides that are open to every skill level. Tips on good riding habits and riding skills are among the things that you will learn at the rides. They have food at some of the events or you can pack a lunch and make a day of it. There is a small fee to get in, to help support the rides. The Fun Rides sound like a great way to get the inexperienced and the experts out to the trails to just have fun and enjoy the biking community atmosphere with no pressures involved with a race.
