Gary Fisher X-Caliber

January 16th, 2005 by Tim Grahl

Saturday was my first chance to ride on 29″ wheels. I borrowed a Gary Fisher X-Caliber from Jack, the owner of Bikes Unlimited here in Lynchburg, VA. I only have two rides under my belt so I can’t give it much of a real rating, however, it was a lot of fun to ride. I could immediately tell the difference in rolling over objects on the trail and it felt like I was riding a tank compared to my 26″ bike. Sitting up higher was a little weird though. My center of gravity was raised up and I kept having the feeling that I was gonna pitch over the handlebars. I figure this is normal and I will get used to it with time. We are getting our hands on this year’s model of the X-cal pretty soon and we will have a full review on it then.
