Squish?
January 10th, 2005 by Tim GrahlFew things that I read across the net actually make me laugh. I find that the ones that make me laugh at myself are the best. Read this whole article, it should make you chuckle cause you know it’s true!
To Squish or not to Squish? What a stupid question.
You’ve seen it a thousand times before. Lord knows you probably do it all the time.
The Squish.
One of those weird human behaviors recently introduced into the ever-growing catalog of weird human behaviour: reality TV shows, monster trucks, a man dressing up as a girl, voting for George Bush and now…The Squish.
You know what I’m talking about. It’s that random, unnecessary rider-induced suspension compression. You’re at a bike race or the bike shop or anywhere else where there are mountain bikers and there are hordes of them. Squishin’ their forks, squishing the rear shock, squishin’ when they’re talking, squishin’ when they’re standing still, squishin’ not even knowing that they’re squishin’. What’s the first thing you do when you get on a bike for the first time? Change gears? Adjust the seat? Check its weight? Nope, you give ‘er a good squish. You reef down on the fork, you take it for a spin and thrust your ass down on the rear suspension a bunch of times to see how it feels. Then, for good measure, you pretty much hump the thing to make sure the fork and the rear shock have what it takes. You’re pushin’ the cushion and God darn if it ain’t the weirdest thing in the bike world right now.
