Who comes up with these prices?
January 7th, 2005 by Guitar TedJust last night I decided to updgrade my RST CAPA TL fork to a RockShox Judy TT fork that was recently rebuilt.
After mounting my newer TT’s I noticed that the fork was missing the brake bosses/mounts. I tried to take them off my old fork and they weren’t budging.
This morning I decided to call two LBS’ and they wanted to charge me $15.00 a piece for the bosses/mounts!
Who in in this world came up with such an expensive price for something so small?
I wouldn’t be surprised if an LBS charges me $5.00 for the end caps for my cables too!

If you came to the shop I work at, I would have did it for free.
Are you anywhere near Fullerton, California?
No, I am in Iowa
I was called another LBS and the mechanic said he had a few of the bosses laying around and would sell a pair to me for $5.00.
I was really impressed with his help that I might buy my new bike at tgheir shop just because he hooked me up. I plan on buying a Giant Warp or a Raleigh Ram by the end of the month.
With my new bosses, my current bike is up and running.
Try purchasing a roller for a Shimano XTR Rear Derailleur(Ouch)
Quit being such a tight-ass. Running a bike shop is a tough business with all the bottom-feeding web jackholes out there. Support your local and stop whining.
I do support my LBS, that’s why I am buying a bike from them in two weeks. I just don’t support price gouging for little items like that.
Along the lines of the #6 comment, this is a little steep, but I wouldn’t say it is gouging. If the parts cost any less, no one would even bother to sell them. The price also does not reflect the part itself, but also shipping and the costs of holding inventory, which are certainly higher than the part itself. I don’t know any bike shop owners (and I’ve known a few) who roll around in big piles of cash at night….
