Male Athlete of the Year
December 28th, 2004 by Tim GrahlThe Associated Press has picked their winner of the “Male Athlete of the Year” award and it went to Lance Armstrong. Not Cobie, not Terrell or any other sack of muscles whose abilities consist of hitting someone or shooting a basketball. Pardon me for climbing onto my soapbox for a minute, but I’ve never understood why Americans spend so much money and time worshiping these “athletes”. I’ve written an article talking a little bit about what I think of the popular American sports and I like the recognition that not only is cycling not a thug sport like American football and basketball, but it consists of some of the best athletes in the world. I love this sport and I hope it always stays down to earth and about the love.
