Kenda Kinetics

December 19th, 2004 by Tim Grahl

I picked up a pair of Kenda Kinetics and, even though my bike is slated a cross-country bike, I fit these 26 X 2.60 tires on my rims and hit the trails. The traction and cornering was outstanding, as well as having a pretty low roll resistance for such a wide tire.

My old set of tires were pretty worn out before I finally got rid of them, and unless I slowed down and took it easy around turns I would end up leaving my bike behind me. However, I could not get the Kinetics to slide out from under me. I took some sharp turns at some high speeds and this set just dug in and held on.

Kenda has the Stick-E compound on these tires that cuts down on the bounce you receive off of obstacles. It acts as a rubber suspension by having a low amount of rebound so it holds on to the trails better. These tires held on great through mud holes and over roots.

All in all Kenda has made a great set of tires with the Kinetics. They come in a narrower size, so I would suggest getting those unless you frame is built for wider tires. But if you live in an area where rain and mud creates a great need for traction, this set is for you.
